Jesters at the Fair, Procession on stilts
A medieval fair is hard to imagine without jester and stunts, stilt walkers, fire eaters and the like. Firebirds have added this hue to many national and international medieval festivals, making the event livelier.
Jesters at the fair is a walkabout performance. The procession stops at various scenes amidst the whirling crowd. Where the jesters stop, they amuse the public with breathtaking tricks (fire eating, fire breathing, throwing knives, devilish stick twirling, acrobacy, etc.) or spectaculars as veil dance, flag twirling, juggling routine. Of course, performers wear medieval-like costumes.
The musicians in the procession use instruments that were used in medieval times: tapan (two-bottomed dumdum drum) and zurna (Turkish flute), the sound of which can be heard even in the most crowded squares from far away.
Daytime performances are a good complement to the night-time fire shows, it is highly suitable for festivals.
